[This Lisinopril and Gout discussion moved from old forum August 2009] My Experiences with Lisinopril and Gout Lisinopril belongs to a group of drugs known as ACE inhibitors. These drugs are used to treat hypertension and a number of other maladies. I was put on Lisinopril approximately three weeks after my blood pressure skyrocketed to 177/99 while I was at my local clinic, causing me to collapse in to a chair. This incident was brought on by a huge sleep deficit and extremely high level of stress. After about thirty minutes, my blood pressure did fall back to 139/92 (or so), which was still above my average BP over the last three months of 127/85. This one is to allopurinol takers everywhere. Why do you put up with such shoddy service? Every week, I get messages from gout sufferers, and their carers, about problems with allopurinol. Most of these show that absolutely no thought has gone into the treatment. If you bought a car with only two wheels, would you accept it and drive round in a shower of sparks? If you called a plumber to fix your leak, would you be happy to pay a weeks wages for him to merely turn the water off? Would you pay an optician who grabbed the nearest pair of specs and said, "Here, these will do," without testing your eyes? Why take allopurinol without checking that it is doing it's job? As GoutPal.com passes another birthday milestone, I'm starkly aware that many pages are stuck in the old website format. I've committed myself to moving or upgrading all the old pages as my top priority. This will make it much easier to find the right information, and hopefully help contributors to the gout forum find better answers quicker. Logically, I should start with uric acid, then gout symptoms, gout treatment, gout diet, finishing with gout related and any other stragglers. However, it is clear to me that, except for gout diet, most visitors are seeking the best cure for their gout. Therefore, I'm determined that February will become Gout Treatment month, when I complete the transfer and upgrade of all gout cure, remedy, or relief pages. I am adding new personal gout treatment management tools here on GoutPal Interactive. As I wrote earlier today, there are 3 simple steps to a good gout treatment plan. I will add a personal gout symptoms assessment tool for swollen joint sufferers who are unsure if they have gouty arthritis or some other form of arthritis. Confirmed gout patients probably will not need this, but they may benefit from the other tools. I will add a personal gout treatment management tool for gout patients to set goals and monitor progress. Many gout sufferers, and even some healthcare workers, get confused about correct gout treatment. Maintaining uric acid at safe levels is vital.
