[feedback from Natural Remedy For Gout]
As I have gotten older, I develop more indigestion and started taking an old remedy of baking soda in water, about 1 tsp to 6 ounces. This works wonders when lying down for the night.
As I developed gout, right big toe, I stumbled onto the miracle that my gout pain subsided when I took the baking soda for my indigestion. I don’t even need to see the doctor anymore for this.
I have not suffered in a couple of years now, and I just know it’s the maintenance of the baking soda.
Sure hope I don’t create other problems by this method, but for now, I am good to go at 60.

You say: “Sure hope I dont create other problems by this method”
I strongly recommend that you see your doctor about this as soon as possible.
The effects of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) can be frightening. I never recommend baking soda for gout: http://www.goutpal.com/8110/dangerous-baking-soda-for-gout/

Alternative Gout control
I was not able to use the uric acid medicines because of the side effects, And I had Gout in every joint of my body and was even urinating crystals 1/8th inch long So in 1994 I fount that 1/2 TSP of baking soda 3X a day worked well in lowering my Uric Acid it went fro 11.0 down to 5.5 Except when I had Salmon the night before the test and it went to 6.5 for a couple of days after but when I don’t have the fish it says around the 5.5 and has remained there since, and after the Gout was out of me “6 months later” after I started the baking soda treatment, and I never had any more flair ups un till Here lately, as for the past year or so I been eating a lot of baked potato chips (Lots of salt) and a lot of candy. and BANG I now have my right leg so full of gout in the knee I can’t even bend it from the fluid pressure in the joint.. This is the first sever gout flair up sine 1994. So I would like to offer the baking soda cure to anyone that can’t take the Meds for Gout and also give a warning to stay away form Salt. as this is the only thing I added to my diet since 1994 as I been on a vegan diet every since 1994, with the exception of Salmon once a week and it took about a year for this all to build up and cause me a flair up.

No!
It’s dangerous for gout sufferers. Baking soda is mostly dangerous for everyone, except under medical supervision. -

Hi guys, just a quick note because I hate typing, I have stage5 renal failure and was getting LOADS of gout, sometimes in both feet at once due my acid level. My specialist at the time prescribed the usual, allopurinol and conchecine but I never used them as at 13% function I figured they would do more harm than good with that clearance. Fortunately he retired and I got a guy who is red hot . I suggested bicarb and he put me on 3 grams a day…MAGIC! I still get the occasional twinge but nothing like the agony I suffered before( you’ll know what I mean). I think it’s a high dose due my extreme condition. The only thing that concerned me is I read it can raise BP. He, the renal specialist told me it has been proved not to and my monitor appears to agree. I know that they are tryling this at my hospital as another specialist told me it was a shame I had already started as I could have been included. Speak to your doctors and suggest they try it if it’s suitable for you.only telling you about my own personal experience.good luck.
