My buttermilk and gout story is unusual. Because I have never mentioned buttermilk in any articles. Nor has it been mentioned in any GoutPal forum. Yet my traffic analysis reveals a common question from gout sufferers - "Is buttermilk good for uric acid?"
So I had a pre-research look to see if there is any link between buttermilk and uric acid or gout. Then I became intrigued by an unexpected link that raises many more questions in my mind.

I've reviewed a couple of gout articles that mention lettuce. That has made me realize there is quite a high level of interest in different aspects of lettuce and gout. So here is my GoutPal story about lettuce so far.
Remember - these are my stories and experiences. So I hope they will inspire you to do your own research. And I will provide references where I can. But you must manage your gout recovery plan in conjunction with your professional health advisers.
Here, I'll:
Look at gout in the context of lettuce and diet.
Review my articles and discussions that currently mention lettuce.
Investigate research into lettuce as it affects gout and uric acid.
Announce my forthcoming articles that summarize all the relevant facts about lettuce for gout sufferers.
Lettuce and Gout Diet
I'm taking this opportunity to reorganize food pages on GoutPal.com. Because I want them to reflect the structure of a Gout Foundation Diet for GoutPal Foodies. Then in future, I can build on that...
When someone asks "what does gout feel like in the knee" I imagine I'm dealing with a person with swollen knees. They've probably had gout in their feet, hands, wrists, or elbows. But something makes them wonder if it is gout or not. So I'd recommend starting with an Arthritis Sufferer Plan.
But the question is rhetorical. Because it is time to tell my story of gout in the knee. Or the ankle? We shall see, after this brief introduction.

Many gout sufferers want to know: can spicy food affect gout? This raises a couple of extra questions.
1. Which spicy foods might affect gout?
We've had discussions about hot peppers, including jalapeños and chilies, curry, ginger, turmeric and lots of other spices. Some have positive effects on gout, but most are gout-neutral.
2. How might spicy foods affect gout?
Do spices affect inflammation, uric acid levels or both? If you have concerns about spices, we need to know exactly which spice. Then we can see if it might help inflammation for short-term relief, or if it might reduce uric acid for permanent relief.

I'm often asked about different aspects of gout treatments. Today I answered a question about allopurinol side effects. "Does allopurinol taken for gout contribute to liver damage?", asked a reader from the USA.
Most people tolerate allopurinol well, but up to 20% can have adverse reactions.
The most serious reactions can involve liver problems. These are thought to be reversible - i.e. affected the liver recovers after allopurinol is stopped.

For years I have had Gout, I have been tested and it is Gout.
Anyway, Doctors think it is odd but I get gout attacks from simply changing shoes. They are not cheap tight shoes but no matter what quality simply changing into different shoes will bring on an attack. Also just bumping my foot on something or twisting it wrong.(playing guitar will get my wrist or finger too)
Does anyone else have issues with shoes. I hate wearing crocs everyday
thanks
