I went to the ER one day after work because enough was enough. I have been in pain since I was 14 and living almost 10 years with foot/joint pain was enough. Of all the orthropedic doctors I had seen over the years and all the different orthodics I had purchased for myself, no one thought to check my blood. Well at the ER, I told the doctor I had injury like pain with no trauma. The doctor basically diagnosed it immediately and the blood tests confirm a uric acid level of almost 10. My grandfather has gout currently and I think I’m just too damn young for gout. Does it ever go away? I wasnt perscribed anything to lower the uric acid just anti-inflammatories. Am I subject to pain my entire life? Please help!

The bad news is, if the genes say so, you are never too young for gout.

The good news is, if you see a sensible doctor, it is very easy to manage.

You must get your uric acid level below 6mg/dL. My latest article – Uric Acid Numbers – tells you exactly how to do it.
