Well, I finally got my uric acid reading in. It was down from 11 to 7 after a month on allopurinol. I guess that's good, but there are other problems. My calcium is high, total protein is high, sed rate is high, and MPV is low. I'm very confused to say the least. I just hope I don't have cancer. Anyone got any ideas about what these lab values mean?

I guess you’ll have to avoid raising your blood ph with high calcium but you might want to discuss this with your rheumatologist. I’m in the crystal disolving stage and have started taking half teaspoon of baking soda in 8oz of water before retiring in the evening as a precaution against kidney stones.

I’m fairly confident that I can differentiate between good advice and bad advice on gout, but I really do not want this forum to get involved with other conditions (unless they are gout-related)

Dan, so far, I notice no effect one way or another but it’s only been a week since I started. I purposely take it at night when hopefully digestion won’t be an issue.
