This is my second post.? I had my second Gout Flare Up / Attack over a month and a 1/2 ago.? The “attack” has subsided but there is still pain when I accidently stub my toe or even when I put on shoes that require lacing.? It does not throb and burn like it did during the attack but it's still “sore” and “aches” and feels “bruised” when I try and walk on it with full weight.? I have just a few questions.

    ?

Is this “ache” and pain leftover from the attack a month and a half ago or are these simply newly formed crystals hanging in my joint in my big toe???? I'm not clear on this??? Are these crystals the same from my initial attack or are they just reformed new ones???

    ?

I have beenn eating much better and drinking loads of water and trying ACV and BS rememdy.?

    ?

It doesn't burn and throb like during an attack but if I bump my foot it stll kills.? Clarification would be greatly appreciated!?

A combination of both. Until your blood uric acid level is low enough to start disolving crystals, they won't go away. Meanwhile, more will be forming until you eventually have your 3rd attack.

I have beenn eating much better and drinking loads of water and trying ACV and BS rememdy.?

That's a bit like a diabetic saying they've cut down on the sweeties instead of taking their insulin

It doesn't burn and throb like during an attack but if I bump my foot it stll kills.?

Stubbing your toe (or even just walking too far) is enough to kick off a gout attack.

You need to have a blood test to see how high your SUA is and then begin proper medication to reduce and maintain it at a level where crystals can disolve and be flushed out of your system. Don't kid yourself that you can do this with natural remedies.

In other words no matter how much water I drink or cherries I eat those crystals are gonna or could hang around and perhaps get worse until I get the proper meds.? I have to suck it up and visit a dr. and get it tested.?

I was under the impression that what I was feeling were the leftover crystals from the initial attack and that unless I was feeling an actual attack any pain was associated with my toe was striclty from left over uric acid crystals and new ones were not present because I was not under an attack. ?

I have done all I can on my own and will need medical attention.? I can't take it anymore.

    ?

On the positive side I actually feel really good and have lost noticeable weight.? Thanks for the input.

Things were looking up yesterday, very little pain.? Enjoyed a concert, ate no meat, really felt great all day.? Walked a few miles even.? Today, I can feel an attack coming on, I can't stand on the foot and can tell the pain is on the way…? Broke down and made an appointment with a dr. tomorrow.? I hope they can give me some results asap as I'm still unsure whats hapening to me and why.? I have made great strides in diet and cut out beer totally and alcohol has been reduced to a pitiful and small level and yet the pain lingers on… I am very curious to know my SUA once and for all.? I really wanted to do this naturally but can't take the pain and the not knowing.

I had the same problem when I had my gout attack in May 2009. I would feel better and go to office and start walking. Within 2-3 days, I used to get the pain in the big toe that would falre up in 1-2 days and back to medicines again. It happened 3 times and I was getting no respite from gout. Got my SUA tested, reading of 9.2, started Allopurinol with 150 mg, went up to 300 mg over a period of few weeks and maintained it till now. The things improved and gout became a distant memory. Now walking, jogging or running, does not matter.
Get you SUA tested, and start on the medication as required to bring SUA under control. Once you have the root cause taken care of, all other things would probably settle down over a period of time.
I started Allopurinol while I was under the attack of gout. It did not cause me any flare ups, rather it stopped swelling, pain and sensations of the pain. It took me few months to get back to track of being normal, but after that life is as usual except the dose of Allopurinol everyday.

Just a gentle reminder to every body.

Even if you want to choose “natural” Gout Treatments, you must always, always, always know your uric acid number. How else can you tell you are making the right changes?

Well, I finally saw a Dr. was prescribed Allopurinol which I will start taking any day when I fill the script.? I really tried to do it naturally and to no avail.? The blood results may be a while but either way, I can't see getting out of taking the Allopurinol.? Hope I don't have any bad side effects.? The pain is too great and letting it continue with no treatment is heading for disaster.?

    ?

On the plus side I had lost 22 pounds over the last few months and am feeling great minus the gout!? My blood pressure was also great.? Hoping my tests come back ok in all other areas and look forward to being able to walk and hike again.? Thank god for my Bike though.? I could not have lost the weight without it!? I will post more of my experince as time goes on, it is quite a scary thing to suffer from and sooooo many websites offer contrary advice on eating etc…!? This is the best site I have found and people have been Blunt and to the point.? The bottom line is knowing your real SUA!? Tested!?

    ?

Know my only fear is slipping back into my bad habits!!? I need to stay strong as I'd like to lose another 20-40 pounds over time.? In an odd way, Gout may have been the best thing that ever happened to me as far as lifestyle and eating habits are concerned.? Mother natures's warning shot, and it was a DIRECT HIT!

    ?

Tonight it's feeling very good thanks to Ibuprofen.? Of all the natural remedies and things I tried, I'm not sure why I didn't ay more attention to something as simple as Ibuprofen!!? It REALY helped.? If you are going through a bad flare up, consider taking a dose of 300-400 Milligrams twice a day during the flare up, maybe more if its really bad.? It can help!

    ?

On a side note, drinking so much water may have helped with my weight loss and seems to be helping with other issues I had, especially sinus issues.? I have suffered from chronic sinus problems, really bad, and was prone to throat infections etc and coughing mucus etc… since I have been on a steady water intake, I haven't had any infections and my mucus comes up easy and way less often.? I have also managed to almost completely stop taking nasal sprays for clogged sinus.? Every once in a while I'll need it to sleep but before I was rather addicted.

    ?

Sounds crazy but I have to thank Gout for my lifestyle changes, I just hope I can maintain them.? I have to say wearing t shirts I bought 20 years ago and having them fit again is kinda… Cool.

    ?

Thaks for this site and I look forward to sharing my experience with others and reading others experiences as well.

    ?

    Cool
