I have never posted antyithing on a forum before, but I feel I need to share my experience with other people with Gout. I was diagnosed with gout 5 years ago. I get Gout regularly in my knees, ankles, feet and toes. I have been on Probenicid with no luck and for the last year or so I have been taking Allopurinol and Cholchicine daily and Indomethacin during flair ups. I also have been Taking 10mgs of Oxycodone 6 times a day and Morphine Sulfate 15mgs twice a day for the last 3 years. 2 years ago I broke my little toe and the Uric acid would settle in the fractures and it would not heal. Finally July 14th I had surgery to debulk that toe. It was clear imediately that the Gout would just settle back in that toe. So in October they amputated that toe and my Gout attacks spiraled out of control. (somtimes several gout attacks in multiple locations at the same time) While I was relaxing on the couch eating my Cherries I saw a comercial about Uloric, I called my Doctor the next day and she called the script into my pharmacy. While sceptical but having no other choice (Cholchacine and Allopurinol were not working and I could not take any more Indomethacin becaused it trashes my stomach) I started taking Uloric. For the first couple of days it seemed to make my Gout worse, but 2 weeks later I have not felt better since I was diagnosed. I know that I have only been on Uloric for a few weeks but I have seen a 200% IMPROVEMENT. Also you can sign up at Ulorics website and get $25.00 off everytime you get it filled, so after my insurance and that discount it only cost me $4.22. Not bad. Anyway I suggest you try Uloric and hopefully it works for you as well as it did for me. Also did anyone else hear that they are taking Cholchacine of the market.

I am so sorry it came to amputation…which toe?
What kind of uric acidd numbers where you getting with allopurinol and probenecid? Wht are you getting now?
Yes, in the United Ststes colchicine is pretty much gone since the FDA gave exclusive patent rights to the 2,000 year old drug to AR Holding Company which appparently owns URL Pharma. The drug is now called COLCRYS and costs a fortune.

I don't drink and I have been staying away from red meat as well. I have only been on Uloric for 3 weeks and will not have my Uric acid levels checked again for 2 more weeks, but I can already tell you that Ifeel Amazing.

Mike,
So then during your treatment with allopurinol, you were running uric acid levels of 9.0??? Did your doctor tell you that was absolutely NOT proper gout treatment? What amounts of allopurinol were you taking every day?
Are you taking 40 or 80 mg. Uloric?
November 26, 2010 at 7:47 pm #10671gotsnakezParticipantI was taking 100MG of Allopurinol three times a day with 0.6 MG of Colchicine twice daily. Now I am taking 4 MG of Uloric once daily. My Doctor's are pretty much dumbfounded.
