rucyriusParticipant
i've been having gout attacks for about 7-8 years … so thats a bit of build up i guess … in fact what made me decide to go on allopurinol was that since last summer i was constantly having pain in both feet .. and it would never go away completely so by dec i figured it was time to go on allopurinol..
rucyriusParticipantthanks for your help guys… so this doesnt sound out of the realm of possibility ? 3 months of allopurinol isn't long enough to get all the old junk in the tissue out… i thought i was cruising pretty well . till now .. zip2play .. is that 2-4 .6 mg pills a day when i have a twinge? man i cant even get on my shoe…
john
rucyriusParticipantactually i take it back… this is a gout attack … how is that possible … my UA level has been 4.8 or so for months… whats the deal i have to call my rhuematologist on monday … i have had little twinges before while on allopurinol , but this is swollen and everything … i'm depressed…
john
rucyriusParticipantby the way my UA numbers started at 9- 10 and are down to 4.7-5.7
rucyriusParticipanti forgot to add.. i'm also to continue to take colchecine for a month along with the allopurinol
rucyriusParticipantthats what's weird with me… i dont have tophi… and i use to have those kinds of attacks , although they would last a little longer than 3 days…. but now it seems different… lingering and switching from one foot to next without a break… …maybe its not gout… but i do have high UA numbes… as high as 10.4 … now with home tester btween 6.8 -8.6… maybe there are two different things going on with me.. my Rheumatoligist is taking forever to find out whats going on… anybody know a good gout doctor in NYC?
rucyriusParticipanthadnt heard about diclofinac retaining uric acid.. wow i've been using alot of it too as it seems to work for my pain.. but if it retains uric acid .. i'm in trouble..
seems odd that doctors would prescribe diclofinac for gout pain if it retains uric acid..
rucyriusParticipantthey are up there… 8……9…… up to 10.3 now
rucyriusParticipantjust trying to decide ..my rheumy says Uloric is much better…but she also didnt seem to know that you can get attacks while the UA is emptying out.. she's not prescribing anything like colchisine or anything but i will ask her to..i kind of depend on diclofinac.. she actually still is wanting me to do this MRI of my foot so she can see what kind of arthritis it is, before i go on uloric… as i have said before i have had a bunch of attacks before that were worse ..these a slighter , but non stop, just about constant.. it somehow seems different than before.. i have such an aversion to taking one of these drugs as i have heard they both can cause kidney or liver problems…
rucyriusParticipantreally? colchicine staves off an attack… no one here in NY has ever recommended that for me.. does that mean your not on allopurinol? do you have high uric acid levels?
