It is a summary of 26 pain relieving drugs, many of which are prescribed for gout. It includes an assessment of risks for stomach and heart problems, which are associated with longterm use of COX inhibitors.
Though pain relief is important to gout sufferers, it is unwise to rely on it for long periods. Pain relief for gout sufferers is best for short term use during the first few months of uric acid lowering treatment.
