This gout review recommends:
- Etoricoxib should continue to be licensed for short term acute gout and other conditions.
- Doctors must be aware of heart and blood pressure risks before and during treatment.
As with all forms of gout pain relief, long term risks associated with anti-inflammatory drugs need to be avoided. You should only take pain relief for a few months until you get uric acid down to safe levels.
I describe the best way to control gout in my gout treatment guidelines.
