Hello my fellow Gout suffers! This is my first Gout forum sign up after having several attacks in the past years. I’m 25 years of age, and unfortunately I have Gout. I want to believe this all started after/during my very first job after graduating, which was a ride operator at Sea World San Diego, which required standing for HOURS.
I would also like to add that, i was going out drinking at the clubs heavily, as most people my age do. I had a few attacks that never lasted as long as they do now. As more info about gout is being revealed i’m learning more and more about it.
Today, i’m suffering from an attack and whould your opinion or advice if you guys don’t mind;
2 months ago?( due to poor diet, in-denial, and?saying ” ah..i’ll work it off tomorrow ” ) I developed an attack. I haven’t had one in about 2 years, but i had it coming. After my recovery and visiting the Docs office, i realized my life is on the line, i could be permanently crippled or worse. So weighing in at about 220, I was able to bring my weight down to 205 with crazy excessive workouts.
After taking with the Doc, working out like that is bad news for flare ups, i wasn’t drinking enough water and the 300mg of allo possibly wasn’t enough during my work outs. Now instead of my left foot ( 2 months ago ) now the pain is on my right foot underneath in the center close to the edge of the right side of my foot.
I’m currently taking Chochicine and on allo 300mg?to try to get rid of it before i start school ( sep 17th ). Any advice you guys can give me to try to avoid this in the future? Is running on the treadmill okay? Because i ran 1.5 miles/6 days a week.
Hi Jonathon,
Welcome to the gout support forum. I hope you do not mind, but I changed your post title, and moved it to a more relevant place. This should attract better responses from experienced gout sufferers who know what it is like to be in your position. I’m sorry that the forum guidelines are not clear enough yet – I’m working on improving them.
Personally, I cannot help you much without a better picture of your uric acid levels. To know if you are doing it right, it is vital to know about your uric acid levels and your meds.
Can you add a brief history of when you were diagnosed with gout, when you started allopurinol, and exact doses, with exact uric acid levels for your recent blood tests.
Have you seen my ideal gout treatment plan at http://www.goutpal.com/3026/where-is-your-gout-going/
Follow that plan, and you’ll soon be free from gout.
