Febuxostat is the generic name for Uloric in America (see Adenuric elsewhere). This relatively new gout medication for lowering uric acid is a real alternative for gout patients who cannot tolerate allopurinol. Interestingly, it has changed the dosage debate, and doctors now [should] treat to target. Your gout treatment plan should clearly state your target uric acid level, then take sufficient Uloric to achieve that. See Uloric guidelines for more information.
