Tag Archives: Protein & Gout
The protein-gout relationship is one of the most misunderstood factors of gout. Protein intake reduces uric acid. Yes, that’s right – protein causes you to excrete more uric acid. The only problem is that flesh-based protein foods also raise uric acid, and usually by more than the protein element can reduce it. The answer is simple – do not stop eating meat (at least not on the grounds of gout control), simply mix your protein sources so that meat is around a third, or less.
